FIS Marathon Cup finale - Birkebeinerrennet 2012
FIS Marathon Cup is a co-operation with The Worldloppet Ski Federation and FIS. The objectives of the Cup are to improve the status of long distance competitions by attracting elite racers and to increase media and spectator interest in long distance racing.
Races must be at least 42 km in length and not more than two of the races in the programme should be under 50 km in length. Races will, wherever possible, be spread geographically to include at least one race from Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and the Rest of the World and should be divided as evenly as possible between races in classical and free techniques.
There will be a team leader meeting for the elite teams in Åmot Kulturhus, Rena - Friday March 16th at 19.00.

All participants in FIS Marathon Cup are starting and competing together with the best skiers, men and women, in the Birkebeinerrennet. The start is at 0800 hrs.
All participants must carry a rucksack weighing at least 3,5 kilos throughout the race. The finale for the FIS Marathon Cup will be at Birkebeinerrennet. Prize ceremony for the six best ladies and men and the overall trophies will be in Håkons Hall, Lillehammer, Saturday 17th, at 1300 hrs.
Prizes/points
In 2011/2012 the Cup will consist of 11 races and the overall winner will be decided by the results of all 11 races. Participants in FIS Marathon Cup and the elite waves will not affect the calculation of the time limit for the “Birkebeiner Medal” in their age classes. They will get their results and prices in their age classes.
