Race regulations
Classic technique ski race. It is run according to the rules and regulations of the FIS, the Norwegian Ski Association and the special regulations stated in the invitation and race instructions.There are check points along the course. Please show consideration for your fellow skiers. Slow skiers should keep to the right hand tracks.
There are no refunds allowed for any reason including race cancellation.
Race packet
In your race packet you will find a tag with your wave number to be fastened at the back of your pack. Your bib must be visible throughout the race, chest straps must be tucked under the bib. Skiers with covered bib will be detained at the start or along the course. It is not allowed to start in another persons name. Identification may be requested.
There is also a personal time-recorder (chip and tape) and a baggage tag. Please use the baggage tag for all items that you deliver for the baggage transportation to Lillehammer Saturday morning.
Time keeping
With your bib and race packet you will be given a chip, serving as your personal time recorder. The chip must be fastened with the enclosed tape around your left ankle. It must not be handet over to others.
Skiers without chip, or wrongly placed chip, will not have their time recordet and will thus not appeare on the result lists. The chip must be handed in immediately after the finish. Failure to do so will result in a fee of 250,00 NOK. The start time is real time for all waves except the elite starts and wave 1.
Clothing/backpack
You must be dressed and equipped for the eventuality of severe mountain weather. All participants must carry a backpack weighing at least 3.5 kilos throughout the race (hip packs are not allowed). The pack shall contain a windbreaker, warm clothing, wax, food and drinks. Packs will be checked. It is your own responsibility that the backpack has the prescribed weight at the finish.
Licence/Insurance
Participants living outside Norway need to sign an athlete`s declaration form. You get the form when retrieving your bib.
Cut of Times (Birkebeinerrennet only)
Participants that have not reached Skramstadsætra (9km) by 12.30, Kvarstad (27km) by 15.00, Sjusjøen (40km) by 17.30 and Sjøsætervegen (49 km) by 18.15 will for safety reasons be stopped and taken out of the race. It is expected that all partcipants have passed the finish line at 19.30 hrs.
Cancellation
In case of cancellation in advance of event day, the organiser may retain 50% of the entry fee to cover expenses.
In case of a decision by the organisers to move the event to another site on the same day, to cancel the event and then organise the event on a later date, or to move the event to another site on a different date: persons who are registered to participate on the original date but do not start on the new date are not entitled to a refund of any part of the entry fee.
In the case of cancellation on event day due to weather/climatic conditions or other ”force majeure”, then the organiser will retain the entire entry fee.
