Preliminary starting times and classes for 2018

Participants without results from our seeding races, must start in one of the un-seeded waves. Foreign participants might be elegible for manuel seeding. Please contact seeding@birkebeiner.no for this service.

All even numbered waves enters the green sluice before start. Odd numbered waves enter the red sluice.

Classes
Birkebeinerrittet use age classes for bot female and male contestants, elite classes, tandem and disabled (FHM og FHK). To participate in the FH-classes you must provide a classification certificate from the Norwegian Handicap Association (NAD).

All participants must be 17 years of age by 31.12.2018 to participate in the Birkebeinerrittet.
Age classes are divided as follows: F/M 17 yrs, F/M 18-19 yrs, F/M 20-24 yrs, F/M 25-29 yrs, F/M 30-34 yrs etc.

Note that there are spesific rules to participate in the elite classes.

Tandem
In the tandem class both contestants may  get their results registered. Both cyclist must then pay and register their participation, they must also carry a back pack weighing at least 3,5 kg.

Assistance
Participants assisting  physically disabled,  which do not wish to have their results registered - does not pay for their participation. Assistants without time chip, may participate without complying to the back pack-weight limits, they must, however, bring extra clothes, foods, drink, tools and repair outfit.

Dynamic seeding
Birkebeinerrittet use dynamic seeding. This means that all wave placements are preliminary, and will be changed continously during the summer. Waves and starting times are not final untill startnumbers are assigned. Final wave placements and start numbers are ready during the last two weeks before the race. 

Please print your start card, containing your wave and start number, from your My Page before retrieving your BIB.
